‘A Real service’ from David Lynes Telephone 01202 578661 Mobile07974 481808
Most makes of multiplier reels serviced and repaired from £10 + postage. I can return most reels within one week depending on parts availability. Your reel will be completely stripped down, cleaned, lubricated, repaired if needed and tested. If any spares are required I will advise you of the cost before fitting. I only use the best lubricants - including Cal's Drag Grease and Reel X, which I import from the States, and Corrosion Block Grease and Lube which was featured in Boat Fishing Monthly (Dec 08). The main reasons for reel failure is caused by bearings seizing up which don't cost much more than £6, or the drag washers sticking, which can normally be fixed with a clean (using brake cleaner) and some of Cal's Drag Grease. To get your reel serviced, download and fill in the attached form (Microsoft Word format, right click the link and "Save Target As"), sending it to me with your reel and payment (details on the form). Mitcell and Okuma are very hard to find parts for, so unless it is just a service or bearing I am no longer able to repair these reels. |

Report from skipper Chris Caines Click here to visit Tiger Lily web pages It's been 20 years since Les Harrison from Corfe Mullen took the Tiger Lily Plaice record with a wonderful fish of 7lb 7oz during a club trip fishing the Shambles. Les's record has stood firm for all these years and then would you believe it, Richard Saxby from Oxford beat it this last weekend with a massive Plaice weighing in at an amazing 7lb 8.5oz! Well done Rich, I hope you win lots of prizes with it. |

Shropshire Lawyer, Andrew Taylor, is no stranger when it comes to bagging Shambles Turbot. On his recent visit he took these two beauties using Mackerel strip on a 5ft trace attached to a simple zip-slider. On the same day he managed just a few nice Bass too... |

Here is Marlow angler, Simon (Rooferman) Mann with a cracking wreck caught Ling. Simon was tackled up for Conger when the big Ling snaffled his bait. Simon didn't mind a bit of course. |

Another record for my boat when Connor McNeill landed this 23lb Spur Dog taking the Irish record. The fish was taken in deep water which produced many Spurs as well as Congers and a 219lb Common Skate. |

Report from Mike Concannon
Fishing on Samuel Irwin III
We fished throughout the day on the flood and ebb tides. Apart from a lull over the slack water period when the tide turned, the fish greedily seized the angler’s lures throughout the day. We stayed on the same mid-Channel wreck mark and thoroughly enjoyed catching Pollack and Cod for the anglers' home tables. Today was an exceptionally productive session. The very first fish of the day, caught on a "Rhubarb and Custard" coloured Sidewinder soft lure was a John Dory, caught by Rodger Leviston. A welcome variation to our more usual catches. The best Pollack of the day weighed 18 lbs 12 ozs and was caught by Rodger Leviston from Clevedon, Somerset. That was a huge fish by any standards for this time of year, particularly when measured against a 100% specimen weight of 16 lbs.
The heaviest fish of the day was a Cod which weighed 24 lbs exactly, caught by Steve Harwood from Bath. The 100% specimen weight for Cod in our area is 23 lbs. It was a personal best for Steve.

Jason Upham, of Brixham SAC, who works on a commercial trawler out of Brixham. Reports, we had this Thresher Shark in the trawl about 10 miles off Berry Head, Brixham, on Wednesday, 7th July. Shame it didn't go back, but that's what we're out there for. It was 8ft from nose to the fork of the tail and the tail was another 8ft long. Estimated at 432 lbs from weight calculating charts, it would have been some catch had it been on rod and line. |

We had a very nice group of lads down from Birmingham this week for a three day stint On Sunday they went out with my pal Chippy on Bite then on Monday and Tuesday they came with me on Capriole Monday we hit the wrecks and reefs resulting in a good bag of fish for them to freeze and take home On the Tuesday we did a species competition the one set up by Rodbenders and had Bob Shotter along to show them how it’s done Some angler he is only managed to come fifth out of six. It was an excellent day with the best fish pictured above a 7lb 1oz Haddock for Chris The money went to Rod who stormed home in the competition with species inc Cod, Pollack, Ling, Haddock, Cuckoo Wrasse and Pouting to name just a few. |

Report from Skipper Gwyn Andrews Phone 07833468457
Steve Quinn pictured with tope 71lb caught aboard Goldilocks out of Rhyl. The fish fell to whole mackerel on 250lb mono trace. It as obvious from the outset the fish was special as it ran way across the tide and left us wondering if it would ever stop. Thanks to the skill ot Steve, an English international for many years, the fish was played to the boat at least four times before landing. The landing was novel as it was obvious after two attempts that it was not going to fit in the net. That's when Steve was hung over the transom and he and myself got a fin each to heave it aboard. Once the fish was on deck we could really appreciate the fish. In a word AWESOME. The fish was weighed quickly ,photographed and returned to swim away strongly. This was a personal best for Steve and the best on Goldilocks.
Rodbenders foot note
Statutory Instruments 2008 No. 691 We have had clarification from DEFRA and the MMO that in there view the provision to retain up to 45 kilograms (100lb aprox) of Tope per day dose not apply to Rod and Line caught fish under any circumstance So taking one to the scales on dry land is illegal We apologise for any confusion caused with regard this matter |
